Welcome to our Spring 2010 edition of the Hartley Healy newsletter. Over recent months, we have undertaken a major redevelopment of our website which is soon to be launched. We believe our website will offer innovative and cutting edge solutions to clients involved in matrimonial disputes and provide the best professional family law service within Australia.
In this edition, we look at recent legislative changes to Binding Financial Agreements and how (more than ever) it is essential that the agreements be drafted with a high degree of expertise, precision and clarity. We also revisit some important time frames by which proceedings must be commenced. Failing to file proceedings on time after a divorce or the breakdown of a de facto relationship can have devastating consequences. Finally, we look at the topic of Mediation in family law property disputes. In particular, we look at the fact that the Family Court and Federal Magistrates Court are now regularly referring parties to private Mediation in property settlement matters and we explain what we do at Hartley Healy to prepare our client for mediation to maximise the prospects of settlement.
