1. Initial Client Conference

In relation to all of our new clients we do recommend that you arrange an initial conference with us. During this initial conference, we can find out more specific details about your matter and provide you with on the spot preliminary advice about your rights and entitlements and about the process that is involved in resolving your matter.

We do charge for our initial conferences and we do ask for payment at the end of the conference.

We charge for our initial conferences at a discount rate.  The current rate for our initial conference for new clients is $330.00 per hour (including GST).

Our initial conferences usually take 1 hour but they can be shorter or longer depending upon the time needed to assist you. If the conference goes for less than 1 hour then we charge proportionally for the time engaged. Likely, if the conference goes for more than 1 hour we also charge proportionally by the hour at the relevant rate.

If you do book a new client conference then we will send you an initial client information sheet via email and we would ask that you fill this out and email it back to us prior to the conference or bring it with you to the conference so that we have all relevant basic details about your matter prior to us conferring with you.

We can conduct our initial conference in person at our offices at either Brisbane, Gold Coast or the Sunshine Coast or by way of a telephone link-up.

At the end of the conference we will hand to you a New Client Information Kit. This kit contains all necessary information and documents that you need to complete and return to us if you wish to formally engage us to continue to act for you after the initial conference.

2. Retaining us to Act for you

Alternatively, you may wish to engage us to immediately act for you in your matter (with or without an initial consultation). For example, your matter may be urgent and/or you may be overseas or have a matter coming up in Court which requires us to act for you immediately.

If this applies to you, we can send you a Client Information Kit by email or mail if need be and provide you with directions as to how to complete this kit so as to immediately retain us as your Family Lawyers.
