Hartley Healy was originally established by Brett Hartley in 1998 when he set up Hartley Family Law Services in Brisbane. Initially, the firm consisted of only two staff members, Brett and his secretary. Joe Healy entered into partnership with Brett Hartley in June 2005 and the firm changed its name to Hartley Healy in September 2006. The Brisbane office provides family and de facto law advice to the Brisbane CBD and surrounding Brisbane areas.

Hartley Healy's Brisbane office is now host to 15 of the firm's staff. There are five family law solicitors in the Brisbane office who provide specialist family and de facto law advice. Three of these have obtained their Specialist Accreditation in Family Law. Each of Hartley Healy's other Family Law offices, in the Gold Coast; also have specialist family lawyers providing advice and support for clients. The Brisbane office is also host to majority of Hartley Healy's support staff who help to provide expert family and de facto law advice.

The Brisbane Family Law office is headed up by Managing Partners Brett Hartley and Joe Healy. While they commute between the Gold Coast office, they spend most of their time servicing clients' needs from their base in Brisbane .

Due to the continual growth of staff in the Brisbane office, in September 2007 Hartley Healy moved from its original premises in Adelaide Street, to 283 Elizabeth Street where we now occupy Level 2. This was an important move as one of Hartley Healy's desires in providing family law and de facto law advice, is to provide comprehensive mediation and arbitration facilities. We now have four purpose built rooms to offer this service.
